【摘要】:SGCsareusedtoproducehot-mixasphalt(HMA)specimensinthelaboratorytoassessvolumetricpropertiesandpredictpavementperformance.InthefabricationofanSGCspecimeninaccordancewithTestMethodD6925,looseHMAisplacedinsideametalmold,whichisthenplacedintoanSGC.Aconstantconsolidationpressureisappliedtothesamplewhilethemoldgyratesatanominallyconstantangle(referredtoastheangleofgyration)andrate.ConsistencyinthedensityoftheasphaltspecimensproducedasmeasuredbyTestMethodsD2726orD6752isveryimportanttothevalidityofthetestsperformed.SpecimensofaconsistentdensityareproducedwhenanSGCmaintainsaconstantpressureandaknownconstantangleofgyrationduringthecompactionprocess.ThereareseveralmanufacturersandmodelsofSGC.Eachmodelemploysauniquemethodofsetting,inducing,andmaintainingtheangleofgyration.Eachmodelalsoemploysauniquecalibrationsystemtomeasuretheexternalangleofgyration.TheseexistingcalibrationsystemscannotbeuseduniversallyonallofthedifferentSGCmodelscommerciallyavailable.InconsistenciesinasphaltspecimensproducedondifferentSGCmodelshavebeenatleastpartiallyattributedtovariationsintheangleofgyration.Thismethoddescribesinstrumentsandprocessesthatcanbeusedtoindependentlymeasuretheinternalangleofgyrationofanymanufacturersx2019;SGCmodelundersimulatedloadingconditions.Theexternalshapeoftheinstrumentchassisassuresthatthepointsofphysicalcontactbetweenthemoldendplatesandtheinstrumentoccuratafixedandknowndistanceawayfromtheaxisofgyration.Asaresult,theverticalloadisappliedatthesefixedpoints,creatingtiltingmomentsateachendofthemold.Unlessotherwisespecified,atiltingmomentof466.5N-mshallbeappliedtotheSGCbytheinstrumentwhilemakingthismeasurement.Note18212;Thequalityoftheresultsproducedbythistestmethodaredependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingtheprocedureandthecapability,calibration,andmaintenanceoftheequipmentused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3666aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting/sampling/inspection/etc.UsersofthistestmethodarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3666alonedoesnotcompletelyassurereliableresults.Reliableresultsdependonmanyfactors;followingthesuggestionsofPracticeD3666orsomesimilaracceptableguidelineprovidesameansofevaluatingandcontrollingsomeofthosefactors.Note28212;A466.5N-mtiltingmomentcorrespondstoa22mmeccentricontheAFLS1ora21degconeangleontheDAVII-HMSwithanappliedloadof10603N(600kPaata150mmdiameterspecimensetting).1.1ThistestmethodcoverstheprocedureforthemeasurementoftheSuperpaveGyratoryCompactor(SGC)internalangleofgyrationusinganinstrumentcapableofsimulatingloadingconditionssimilartothosecreatedbyahotmixasphaltspecimen.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.2.1
